Welcome To White Birch Books
 Hi there and welcome to White Birch Books! We’ve had a busy spring here at the store and things are looking very different. Here’s what happened… We were patiently waiting for a stimulus check (we thought everyone was getting one) until we finally realized that we weren’t getting one and neither, it appeared, were our customers. Oh it was a deadly quiet spring. Because we are a group that likes to keep busy, we kind of tossed around ideas of what to do. Someone shouted – let’s move every book in the store! – and that’s all it took. We were off!
Today, our moving is essentially behind us. We’ve still got some painting to do and some signage to change, but the overall result is a cleaner, roomier store. The kids department is now located on the second floor where there is a lot more room to actually see the books and more room to sit and enjoy. Soon we’ll be starting up some story times and getting some children’s authors in too. It’s really a nice space.
Bargain books and used books take up the other half of the floor, with travel filling out the space. Downstairs, we’ve created a wonderful card section. You really must come in and check out our selection. It’s fantastic and now – you can actually see everything! All the nonfiction titles that were languishing upstairs have found a new home and new browsers downstairs. And those cool sections like home, garden and cooking are wonderfully spread out. Definitely come check everything out!
July is a busy month for us. We’ve got several events scheduled with something to appeal to everyone. First, we have David Roberts on July 15th, who will be here to discuss his new book on Brad Washburn. Next we have Casey Sherman on the 18th to talk about his new book, The Finest Hours, which is about a daring Coast Guard rescue. Then we have Peter Pinkham on the 22nd with Killer Mountain, the long awaited sequel to The Hidden Mountain. And finally on the 24th, Eric Pinder will be here to introduce us to his new picture book, Cat in the Clouds. Did I mention it was a busy month! More details about all of these events can be found under the Store Events section.
We encourage you to check in with us regularly because we do continue to add new events. Also, you’ll want to check out the book group page to see what our groups are discussing, and don’t forget to take a peak at the Staff Pick page. We can’t read everything, but we do read a lot and we love to share! We’ll keep the page regularly updated with new hits as well as some of our favorite reads of past years.
