Welcome To White Birch Books

White Birch BooksSummer has begun! How do we know? Because the big books have made their appearance. Check out our reviews for The Passage, Still Missing and hometown favorite, Live to Tell by Lisa Gardner. There are so many books this summer and we’re reading and recommending as fast as we can!

How to know what to read? Stop by the store and you’ll see recommendations everywhere. If you can’t make it in, check on our staff pick page. Another option is to listen to the local radio station,WMWV 93.5. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at around 4:15, they run one of my reviews. Also, we’re in talks with the Conway Daily Sun to publish a review column every week. They are still fine tuning the details, but we hope to see it soon and, of course, we hope you like it.

Lisa GardnerI mentioned Lisa Gardner up above. Every year, we get to do her kick off event. We’re very spoiled here in the area to be able to see her so regularly. A lot of people can’t make it to her tour, so we also get to work with them by participating in a virtual tour. So, if you are not going to be able to see Lisa at any of her scheduled events, you can still get a signed – and personalized – copy of her new book (or her older ones, too.) Just drop us a note and we’ll go from there.

In addition to our bigger headlining events – see Events page – we’re also working on several Sunday afternoon programs with new authors and poets. We’ve got a couple on the schedule already and are confirming more daily. If you find yourself with a bit of time on a Sunday afternoon, come on down. You might meet a future bestseller!

chairOur store is still destined for an outdoor makeover. The painter is going to show up any day now… I hope! Speaking of painting, we are officially displaying our new, beautifully painted Adirondack chair. Local artist Cindy Spencer agreed to lend us her talents and she has created a wonderful story on cedar. You can get more information on how the whole program works – and see the map to all of the painted chairs – at the Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce site, but suffice it so say that the chair will go to the highest bidder at the end of the summer. It could be you!

Thank you for your visit and for your support.

-Laura
