Welcome to White Birch Books! After a pretty quiet stretch of events, we’ve had a very busy March. We’ve got one big event to come, and a quick reminder of signed books in the store. Here is the quick rundown:
Tuesday, March 21, 6 p.m.
An evening with Michael Wejchert, author of Hidden Mountains, the story of a climbing adventure gone wrong in a remote Alaskan range. Wejchert will be in conversation with Mark Synnott at the Theater in the Wood.
The Theater will have their bar open and this is going to be a fun night. Even though the book is about an event in Alaska, there are many familiar names in Wejchert’s book, plus it is REALLY good. Let’s bring that home town crowd!
Signed Books Available
Author Annie Hartnett was here at the beginning of the month to celebrate the paperback release of Unlikely Animals, one of our bestselling books of last year. It was a fantastic evening complete with tips for writers and a sneak peek at what the next book might be. She was amazing and it made me like her even more, if that was possible. Signed copies are still available!!
We were also lucky enough to sell books at the launch event for Majka Burhardt and her new book MORE, an intense and emotional epistolary memoir. She just happens to be one of the world’s top ice climbers, mother of twins and Jackson resident! The launch was on the day of the big snowstorm, but there was still an awesome turnout at the Ledge Brewery. We also have a nice stack of signed copies still available!
With her national following, we’ve been sending copies across the country and we are happy to keep doing that. If you can’t make it to any of Majka’s events and really want a signed copy, you can order a book here.
Details about all these authors, books, and events, and any more we dream up, can be found at the Event Calendar. All these books are amazing and wonderful and a testament to the talent we have here in the Valley and in New England. We’ve missed doing events for just this reason!
Cool New Thing!
The Conway Daily Sun asked me to help launch a new program they are doing and I was more than happy to help out. Basically, it’s an opportunity for businesses to promote themselves through video in addition to print ads. For me, it came down to talking about books. Let me know what you think!
