Welcome to White Birch Books! The events continue as we head into May. Check the events page for all the details and please support! Here is the quick rundown:
Tuesday, May 16, 10-12
I am putting on my professor’s hat again and teaching my annual OLLI class focused on big books coming out this summer. Boldly titled the Best Books of 2023, the in-person part of the class is filled up, but people can still sign up for the virtual part. OLLI is a membership organization and there is a class fee. Just in case you want to join in, check here for the details.
Wednesday, May 17, 5 p.m.
We are excited to welcome author Mark Paul to discuss his book, The Ends of Freedom: Reclaiming America’s Lost Promise of Economic Rights. He’ll be at the bookstore and we’re happy to have this interesting discussion here. Paul spends half the year in Jackson so he is basically a local author. He is also an Associate Professor of Economics at Rutgers University. Click here for all the details!
Friday, May 26, 4-6 p.m. at Ledge Brewing Co.
We’re closing out the month with a fun one – beer and hiking, quite literally! Come meet author Carey Kish and check out his new book Beer Hiking New England. Carey hiked many miles and drank many beers to pick the best trails to pair with the best beers in all of New England – someone had to do it! So come learn about his process and what goes into this ardous work, while enjoying a delicious pint!
Details about all these authors, books, and events, and any more we dream up, can be found at the Event Calendar. All these books are amazing and wonderful and a testament to the talent we have here in the Valley and in New England. We’ve missed doing events for just this reason!
Readers Rewards Program
With our new system fully up and running, we’ve been working to get everyone signed up for our Readers Rewards Program. The program tracks your sales and assigns points for every purchase. After enough qualified purchases, you get a credit to apply to your next purchase. Yay! All this is accomplished solely by giving us your name or phone number BEFORE your purchase.
Cards, Gifts & Toys
I’ve just spent two full days buying more cards, gifts, stickers and more! We always try to keep things fresh in the store. Right now we have cards out for Moms, Dads and Grads, as well as all the usuals. We’re always on the lookout for new vendors to keep things exciting.
Book Groups and other Events
Book Groups are happening! Details on book selection will be on the Book Group page so check there so you can stay in touch! We always welcome new people and there are no attendance requirements, so drop in when you can – we’d love to have you join us!
Sign up for our newsletter to stay in touch with everything going on.
Thank you for your continued support.
This bookstore – along with all of our local stores and restaurants – survives because you shop here, and we are constantly thankful for it. I’ve always said that our customers are the best customers and these past few years has shown that to be true in spades.
As always, if you have any questions, please be in touch.
